Deputy Head of the SES Ruslan Biloshitsky took part in the meeting of the Steering Committee of the Program for Prevention, Preparedness and Response to Natural and Man-Made Disasters in the Eastern Partnership Countries PPRD East 3

A meeting of the Steering Committee of the Program for Prevention, Preparedness and Response to Natural and Man-Made Disasters in the PPRD East 3 Eastern Partnership countries was held online on February 24.

Under the chairmanship of the Program Director Mariel Petterson, the participants of the meeting - representatives of the Program from different countries - discussed a number of important issues related to the implementation of PPRD East 3.

In turn, the National Head of the PPRD Program in Ukraine, Deputy Head of the SES Ruslan Biloshitsky noted that the Service confidently follows the European integration vector and thanks to effective state support and close cooperation with foreign partners constantly strengthens the capacity of the rescue service.

"During the third phase of the project, we plan to continue the work already underway, focusing on such areas as disaster risk assessment, public awareness of disasters, collection and processing of disaster data and volunteering in the field of civil protection," said Ruslan Biloshitsky.

He also stressed that Ukraine's participation in the Project's educational and training activities provides an opportunity to raise the professional level and enrich the experience of Ukrainian experts in many areas related to the prevention, preparedness and response to natural and man-made disasters.

“We express our readiness and confirm the availability of opportunities for full-scale field exercises under the PPRD Program in 2022. We have experience in organizing such large-scale exercises, ”said the Deputy Head of the SES.

As a result, the Ukrainian side stressed the readiness of the SES to purposefully and consistently continue successful cooperation under the Program. The main objectives of the project undoubtedly contribute to the harmonization of Ukrainian legislation in the field of disaster prevention, preparedness and response to natural and man-made disasters with European principles and standards, as well as cooperation with EU Civil Protection Mechanism member states, regional cooperation between Eastern Partnership countries.

For reference: PPRD East is a flagship initiative launched in 2010. Improving resilience to natural and man-made disasters in the Eastern Partnership countries is the main goal of the third phase of the Program. During the implementation of PPRD East 3, the previous work will be used, the recommendations of the previous stages will be taken into account and it is planned to solve the problems faced by the participants of the Program before. PPRD East 3 will be implemented during 2020-2024.
