On February 16, representatives of the UN Refugee Agency met with the leadership of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Donetsk Oblast, handed over certificates and passed over 23 sets of tools and equipment for rescuers who will carry out restoration work in settlements on the demarcation line, worth almost three million UAH.
As mentioned Oleksiy Migrin, head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Donetsk Oblast, rescuers from the Donetsk Oblast have been restoring housing damaged by shelling for four years. So, last year alone, with the participation of SES brigades, almost a thousand houses were restored, which are located almost close to the front line. Rescuers plan to perform no less this year as well. Noel Calhoun, deputy spokeswoman for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), said that 7 sets of tools and equipment were handed over to rescuers last year. But after they saw how effectively and efficiently the SES staff was working to rebuild the destroyed houses, it was decided to significantly increase the amount of assistance.
In addition, the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Donetsk Oblast received 4 pneumoframe tents costs more than UAH 1 million from an international partner. These modules will soon be installed in the points of assistance to the population, located near the CPVR in the Donetsk Oblast.
