Due to forecasted complication of weather conditions, the number of emergencies typical for this period has increased in some oblasts of Ukraine. So, from the beginning of bad weather the rescuers began to rescue vehicles from ditches and snow-covered sections of the roads.
In particular, during January 13, the rescuers of Kirovohrad oblast five times provided assistance to the drivers of cars that could not overcome the problematic sections of roads.
On January 13, the rescuers of Zaporizhia oblast conducted six departures to provide assistance to the drivers on highways of the region: the SES officers towed 7 trucks and 2 cars in Zaporizhia City as well as Polohy, Zaporizhia (earlier Novomykolaivka), Vasylivka (earlier Kaniznka-Dniprovska) and Melitopol districts.
On the same day, the rescuers of fire and rescue units of Volyn oblast towed 5 cars (1 truck and 4 cars) that were in ditches and roadsides due to worsening weather conditions, and provided assistance to 8 drivers and passengers of vehicles.
In turn, the rescuers of the Mobile Rescue Center of Rapid Response of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine provided electricity supply to the boiler house, which heats the microdistrict of Obukhiv Town in Kyiv oblast, where the residents of three nine-storeyed residential buildings with a total of 750 apartments were left without electricity and heat supply. So, at 00.45hrs on January 14, the MRCRR of the SESU received a call from the Main Department of the SES of Ukraine in Kyiv oblast about electricity loss in the boiler house of Sosnovyi microdistrict in Obukhiv Town. At 02.10hrs, the power plant unit of the MRCRR of the SESU has been forwarded to Obukhiv Town in order to supply the electricity, and at 02.hrs. after arriving at the site and they began to deploy a mobile power plant. At 03.02hrs, with the permission of the local electricity supplier the power plant was connected to the boiler house, it started to operate and provide heat to Sosnovyi microdistrict of Obukhiv Town.
At the same time, at 08.55hrs on January 14, the Rescue Service “101” received a call about the electricity loss in the kindergarten, which is located at: Kurchatova Street, Pokrov Town, Dnipropetrovsk oblast. According to the report, the duty unit of the 44th State Fire and Rescue Station of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Dnipropetrovsk oblast has been forwarded to the site. Upon arrival at the site, the SES officers determined that the electricity supply has been lost because of the failure of the transformer in the kindergarten. The rescuers installed a generator to further temporarily connect the electricity supply to the kindergarten.
