On June 9, the second meeting of the Ukrainian-Belarusian Working Group on Interregional and Cross-Border Cooperation took place in the format of a video conference between the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.
On behalf of the State Emergency Service, Ruslan Biloshitskyi, Deputy Head of the State Emergency Service, took part in the meeting and discussed with his Belarusian counterpart, Deputy Minister of Emergencies Andriy Yurzhyts, the issue of bilateral cooperation in emergency prevention and response. Thus, the Belarusian side noted the expediency of developing a system for monitoring emergencies in border regions, especially in the fire-hazardous period, in particular, expressed readiness to provide data on the detection of thermal anomalies obtained by remote sensing systems.
Ruslan Biloshitsky noted that a solid contractual framework has been formed between the SES of Ukraine and the Ministry of Emergencies of the Republic of Belarus, which allows effective cooperation between rescue authorities and rescue teams in joint actions in responding to emergencies in the border areas of both countries.
"At the request of the parties, mutual assistance is organized at both interstate and interregional levels, and the SES has identified forces and means that can be involved to provide assistance in Belarus," he added.
During the meeting, the parties also stressed the strengthening of cooperation during floods and the continuation of the Agreement signed in 2017 between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Belarus on cooperation in the field of aviation search and rescue.
"Today, the Ukrainian side confirms its readiness to sign the Procedure for Implementation of the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Belarus in the field of aviation search and rescue," said the Deputy Head of the SES further strengthen interaction and cooperation.
